Grey: Fifty Shades of Grey as told by Christian by E. L James

grey-el-james_0Book Synopsis:

Christian Grey cannot remember why he agreed to do the interview for the local university paper, but when Anastasia Steele falls into his office, he is captivated by her. Her tries to forget her but fails. And soon shows up at her work, asking her out, and hopes that she will agree to be his next submissive. Is the quite Miss Steele cut out for the role? But is that really what Christian sees in her? Can she be more?

My Review:
A lot of people were disappointed by this book. They were hoping that they would finally learn how Christian started his lifestyle and they hoped to learn more about his troubled past. But as the title suggests, Grey is simply a re-telling of Fifty Shades of Grey, but from Christian’s perspective.

Writing: I got the strong sense that James was more comfortable with language this time, so she used the words she tried to avoid with the Fifty Shades Trilogy. But her style did not improve that much because she was still repeating phrases over and over again.

Overall Experience: I did not think that Grey was that much of a compelling story. All I got from the story was details about what he was doing while Ana was pinning after him. This is my least favourite male narrated book. I thought that Christian had so much to over the reader but we were only given the basic information.

I would recommend that you read this book only if you’re truly interested in the daily activity of Christian Grey, otherwise give it a pass. You’re no better off understanding the man if you read it.

Side note, does the eye on the cover not remind you of Matt Bomer? Someone tell me they see it too?
